How to stay smelling fresh when you carry weed out

To stay smelling fresh while carrying weed, keep the source sealed in a carbon-lined bag, keep it away from soft fabrics, and deal with your hands and hair after you handle it. Odour transfers by contact and by air — you can cut both.

Seal the source first

Most smell people notice is not the bag, it is the open packaging inside it. Keep your stash in its own closed container, then put that inside a smell-proof bag with an activated-carbon lining and a sealed zipper.

Give the closure room. A bag packed to capacity strains its seal, and a strained seal is the first thing to fail.

Keep it away from soft fabrics

Wool coats, hoodies, scarves and fabric linings hold odour far longer than smooth surfaces. A crossbody worn on the outside of your coat keeps the source off your clothes, which is a large part of why a dedicated bag beats a jacket pocket.

Hands and hair are the real giveaway

Rolling transfers resin to your fingers. Wash with soap and cool water, and carry a small unscented hand gel for when there is no sink. Hair collects smoke, so a hood or a tied-back style helps if you have been in a smoky room.

Have a short after-routine

Step outside for a minute in moving air, wash your hands, and pop a mint — heavy perfume tends to draw attention rather than hide anything. Air your bag out at home so the lining stays fresh.
