How to keep your house from smelling like weed

To keep a house from smelling like weed, store everything sealed, smoke near moving air with a window open, and keep smoke away from fabrics. Odour clings to textiles first, so ventilation and storage beat any air freshener.
Start with storage, not spray
An open jar or a plastic bag on a shelf scents a whole room within hours. Keep everything in a closed container, and keep that container inside a carbon-lined bag if the room is shared. Nothing you spray afterwards works as well as odour that never got out.
Give the air somewhere to go
Smoke follows airflow. Open a window and add a fan pointing out of it so air leaves the room rather than circulating into the hallway. Close internal doors so the rest of the home stays out of the loop.
Protect the soft stuff
Curtains, sofas, rugs, bedding and coats hold odour for days. Keep smoking away from them where you can, wash what is washable, and air out the room properly instead of layering perfume on top.
Clean what holds residue
Ashtrays, grinders and trays hold the strongest smell in the room. Empty and wipe them regularly, and keep them stored closed rather than out on a surface.
Carry it out sealed
When you leave, a smell-proof bag keeps the same problem from moving to your car, your coat and your workplace — the same two layers that work at home work on the move.
